2. How is the aesthetic tattoo procedure done?
At Prettylooks, a topical Anesthetic is applied. Topical Anesthetic is preferred rather than the injectible because in the former the patient
reacts to the depth of the needle during application and the artist can respond to the patient’s sensations. The tattoo is applied carefully and accurately using the high gauge needle size.

3. But is it not that the injected anesthetic better because it ensures a no-pain procedure?
Most dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons would prefer to use injectible anesthetics in applying the facial tattoo because this method totally numbs the skin. This enables the artist to apply it as calmly and relaxed as possible. However, this could result in the artist applying too much pressure unto the skin and uncontrollably penetrate it deeply which results to adverse and ugly scarring. The patient would not notice it until after the treated area has healed totally (after a week). Injected anesthetic could also cause swelling/enema of the skin and diffusion of the pigment unto the liquid - in most cases resulting to permanent smear on a large are especially on the eyelids. This has often been misconstrued as migration of pigment. It is a chemical reaction between the liquid anesthetic and the pigment happening almost instantaneously. Therefore, the injection process is strongly discouraged.
